OMG You're Glowing! Thanks, It's Sweat
On facing the summer heat with your dignity intact.
If you haven’t already heard by now, I’m a proud Leo, which means that the summer is my time to shine — literally. I’m sadly not immune to the absolutely face-melting temperatures that New York bestows upon us city dwellers, and my body reacts as you can expect, with copious amounts of sweat. After a relatively mild June, to the point where I didn’t have to install my window A/C unit until last week, July is making her presence known, leaving those of us who haven’t escaped to the Hamptons or Martha’s Vineyard to reckon with being utterly stinky, sticky, sweaty, and gross 24 hours a day. NYC life is so glamorous!
Although I am a huge proponent of rocking a deliciously dewy and high shine complexion pretty much every day, when my natural glow is courtesy of perspiration dotting my upper lip, forehead, and… everywhere else, I’ll admit that I am open to things that can help keep the sweat sheen in check. Plus, when you’re not jumping in and out of a car with the air conditioning turned to high — meaning you’re down in the sweltering depths of the city’s subway stations, which honestly give the 7th circle of hell a run for it’s money — you have to take into account the rest of your sweaty body in addition to your face.
So, how do I keep from looking and feeling like a swamp monster all the way until September? Easy.
